I was a huge fan of Alex, Approximately, it gave me so many good feels, and this book was kind of the same, but a little more...rushed.I think my rating for this book is more a 3.5 than 3, but I feel like with Jen Bennett, her books make so much more of an impact when they are read in one go. I was up until 2 am reading this book, and it felt magical in that little bubble I was sucked into, beneath the covers, all cozied up with the book reading about the handsome enigmatic Jack and the fierce goodie-two-shoes Bex. I loved their energy, their chemistry, their interactions, their romance. Jack made me swoon with his courtship and Bex was a heroine I liked and rooted for. I loved the family drama, the sneaking around, all of it. It was, like I said, magical, beneath the covers in the middle of the night.
However, I ended up passing out, and I had about a quarter of the book left. When I got up the next morning and continued reading the book, I found it had lost its magic in the daylight. I'm not sure why or how, but suddenly, I found Jack and Bex a little too much. Their romance was moving too quickly, too instantly. They fell too quick too hard. Some lines sounded cheesy and I was starting to feel turned off by the whole thing. It confused me. I don't know why I felt that way. Had I continued reading the book the night before, I would've probably rated it 5 stars and categorized it as a favorite before going to bed, but I didn't.
I am still taking how I felt the night before into consideration though, which is why I'm giving it a 3.5 rating, but I can't give it a 5 stars.
I loved Jack and Bex, but I felt like...there were too many loopholes and the way they fell in love was kind of weird. I know it's a YA, and I do love my YA cheesy, but again...the whole sister/mayor/rich boy drama was just too much. Another thing I found weird was, Bex and Jack were both 18, but they were still in high school? It's a small thing, but it bothered me. Aren't they a little old for high school? I don't know how things work in the US, but at 18 I was finishing up my sophomore year at university.
It's definitely a sweet romantic book, and it will give you all the feels. The chemistry is sizzling and will seriously give you goosebumps, but again...I do recommend breezing through it without stopping. Reality checks are such a buzz kill.

Night Owls eBook Jenn Bennett Reviews
AWWWWWWWWWW!!! Just give me a second as I sit here and hug my HB pencils.
We follow the likeable Bex as she struggles to do what she feels is right. We see her deify her mother for the first time in her life, for good reasons. We see her fall in love with a broken boy who needs her. Find herself. And confront her absent father.
Both Bex and Jack families, even through from extremely different social standings, have issues. We get to see them all work through these issues and come out the other side.
Things I loved Both leads were Artsy. Good old teen angst. Divorce and Mental Illness’s were addressed. Jack’s Adorable law breaking. Sexy Classic Cars. Happy endings for all the main characters that didn’t feel over the top or super cheesy, just warm and fuzzy.
Things I didn’t Nothing.
I laughed out loud with this book. At once stage I got antsy, had to put it down and go for a walk because the characters dramas was stressing me out – I just wanted them to be happy! I finished Night Owls and just sat on the lounge with a big smile on my face.
There is adorable first time teen love heavily sprinkled throughout the whole story – Perfection!! I’m putting this on my re-read when needing a pick me up shelf -) Five Stars.
Talk about stealing the rug from right under you (or was it carpet? Floor?) you get the point, but anyways, oh my my!!! Awkward fangirl moment... a notorious graffiti artist? Yikes! And that too in gold! oh wow! (I think it was gold, or am I making this up? hmm...I can't remember)
This storyline is simply so cute! AND THAT TOO WITH SO MUCH ADORABLENESS!!! Two artists come together to make a beautiful love story. Okay it's not totally that boring, the book is so much more than that.
A graffiti artist is creating a mayhem all over town, spreading chaos. Until one night. He is caught in the act by Bex. Hold your horses, I don't mean to imply she actually sees him doing the crime but she does happen to meet him on the Night Owl bus and BOOM! Instant attraction! This is not your typical love story where Romeo and Juliet's eyes meet and the profess their love for one another. Nope. It is nothing like that and THANK GOD!! I actually bought this book after talking to a friendly bookseller in Waterstones, and oh my gosh, if this book turned about to be a typical cliche then god knows how I will hunt her down and ask for my money back. Kidding, I wouldn't really, well I can't since I've had this book for months and 30 day back guarantee is expired. Oh shoot, I am not supposed to be talking about shopping. Please just ignore me now.
Okay so the plot, Bex and Jack are cute, they get to know each other just like any realistic couple in the first stages of getting to know one another. This book highlights some important issues like; schizophrenia, finding the true artist within yourself, the grass isn't always greener on the other side but what I loved most about this book would have to be the strong emphasis on family. I love books which are family orientated but realistically, it is easier to relate with the characters then. Bex's mom is awesome, a loving, hardworking, single parent who is raising her kids and just passing by, she is struggling with money just like another person.
This book describes the art so gloriously that I want to take an art course and find my inner artist. I am seriously contemplating it, I really wish I could have seen the final piece ( I mean Bex's art). I loved how easy going the book felt whilst reading it, I only have one complain really, the pace of the book was slow to my liking. I was getting bored very easily which is why it took so long for me to read this book.
I read this in one day. The characters are so personably writen with several twists and turns as the plot continues. So much love for this book. Wish it were a series.
